Description
Foxglove at Kruckeberg Botanic Garden in Shoreline, WA
Although this tall plant is a common garden ornamental because of its bold and dramatic look, it is actually toxic! Foxgloves (Digitalis purpurea) are also grown commercially as a source of the heart drugs digoxin and digitoxin. Digitalis is the major source of digoxin in the US.
